Oath Return Policy

At Olive + Oath, our policies reflect our values: thoughtful production, transparency, and respect for the people and processes behind every garment. We ask customers to review and acknowledge these policies at checkout before purchasing.

Please review the policy below carefully before placing or returning an order.

What can I return?
You may request a return if your item:

  • Was purchased at full price or with the WELCOME10 discount code

  • Is unworn, unwashed, and in original condition with tags

  • Is requested within 14 days of delivery (please note: all references to return timelines in this policy refer to 14 days from delivery, not dispatch)

  • Was not purchased at a 40% discount or more, or marked as Final Sale

If a combined discount code was used (e.g., 10% + 15%), the total discount will be used to determine eligibility.

FullPriced Items

  • Eligible for refund or exchange within 14 days

Discounted Items

Sale & Clearance Items

  • Eligible for exchange or store credit only within 14 days
  • Final sale unless faulty

Promotional Codes (excluding welcome code)

  • Fullpriced items purchased with a promotional code are eligible for exchange only

Welcome Code

  • Standard return policy applies

Afterpay Orders

Important: Orders paid via Afterpay are eligible for store credit only. 

This is due to nonrefundable commission fees charged by Afterpay on returned orders.

What can’t be returned?
We are unable to accept returns for:

  • Items with visible signs of wear, scent, deodorant, damage, or washing

  • Items without tags or in non-resellable condition

  • Items purchased at 40% off or more — these are Final Sale

  • Custom or made-to-order pieces marked Final Sale

  • Gift cards

Refunds and Store Credit
We currently offer:

  • Cash refunds for full-price items or items purchased using the WELCOME10 discount code

  • Store credit only (no expiry) for items purchased at 15–39% off

  • No returns or refunds on items discounted 40% or more

Refunds and store credit are processed within 5–7 business days of us receiving and approving your return.

If you received your item as a gift, store credit will be issued to you once the return is approved. Refunds can only be processed to the original payment method used by the purchaser.

How to Make a Return or Exchange

Please use our  returns portal  within 14 days of receiving your order.

Exchanges

  • Select the item(s) and preferred replacement size
  • If your size is unavailable or the style is no longer produced, you may choose an eligible refund or store credit

Returns

  • Returns are subject to:
    • $13 AUD restocking fee per item
    • $11.99 AUD return shipping label (domestic)

Domestic orders should be dropped at your nearest Australia Post location.

Refund Processing

Once your return is received and approved:

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method
  • You’ll receive an email confirmation
  • Please allow up to 10 business days for funds to appear, depending on your payment provider

How Refunds Are Calculated

Refunds reflect:

  • Garment value
  • minus $13 AUD restocking fee per item
  • minus original shipping cost if:
    • your return brings the order below $250 AUD, or
    • the entire order is returned
  • minus return shipping (paid at the time of return)

Faulty items are exempt from all fees.

Example:
You return one $180 AUD garment from a $260 AUD order.

  • $180 garment
  • minus $13 restocking fee
  • minus original shipping (order now below freeshipping threshold)

 Restocking Fee

Every Olive + Oath piece is produced in limited quantities and handled with care. Returned garments are individually inspected, steamed, repackaged, and reintegrated into inventory by our thirdparty logistics (3PL) partners.

To support this work responsibly, a flat $13 AUD restocking fee per returned item applies to nonfaulty returns.

This helps us:

  • Reduce textile waste
  • Maintain garment quality
  • Keep production small and intentional
  • Avoid inflating prices for all customers

 

For international returns, please email customercare@oliveandoath.co.nz to initiate a return. All international return shipping, duties, and taxes are the responsibility of the customer. International returns must also be initiated within 14 days of delivery.

Important Return Conditions

  • If your return is approved, you must print and ship the item within 3 business days using the provided label. If not shipped within this window, the return will be cancelled.

  • Returned items must be in perfect resellable condition — no marks, stains, deodorant residue, or scent of any kind.

  • We recommend reusing the original packaging or ensuring your item is securely packed. Returns damaged in transit due to insufficient packaging may not be accepted.

  • If your return is received in non-resellable condition, it will not qualify for a refund or store credit. You may choose to have the item shipped back to you at your own expense.

  • Please submit your return request within 14 days of delivery. Once your return has been lodged, please ship your items within 3 working days. Returns after this period will be cancelled. We cannot accept returns that have been sent back weeks after we accepted them on our portal.

Please be mindful that we are a small business and our items are not mass produced so we have limited numbers. If customers hold onto items for weeks at a time, it makes it really difficult for us to be able to plan inventory.

Return Shipping
Australia & New Zealand Returns
Prepaid return labels are available at a flat rate:

  • Australia – $11.99 AUD

  • New Zealand – $15 AUD

The return shipping cost will be deducted from your refund or store credit.

International Returns
Prepaid return labels are available at customers expense. Lodge a return via our portal to start a return. 

We do not offer exchanges on international orders, but you may return eligible items for refund or store credit.

Shipping, Duties & Taxes

  • Return shipping fees, international duties, and taxes are the responsibility of the customer unless an item is faulty
  • If a return negates free shipping eligibility, the original shipping cost will be deducted from the refund

This ensures our freeshipping offer remains fair and sustainable for a smallbatch brand.

Free Shipping Threshold
If your original order qualified for free shipping, but your return drops the order total below the threshold (and you do not exchange or repurchase), the original shipping fee will be deducted from your refund or store credit.

Customers are responsible for printing and attaching their return label.

Exchanges and Multiple Returns
Exchanges are available for Australia and New Zealand orders and are limited to one per order. We reserve the right to refuse returns from customers with a high return rate or suspected policy abuse.

Unauthorised Returns
Returns sent outside of our portal or after the 14-day window may be rejected and returned to the sender. Please ensure all returns are submitted through our portal to avoid delays.

Faulty or Incorrect Items
If you believe you have received a faulty or incorrect item, please contact us at contact@oliveandoath.co.nz within 7 days of delivery. Be sure to include your order number and clear photos so we can resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

EU Customers – Right to Cancel
If you are located in the European Union, you are entitled to cancel your online purchase within 14 days of delivery. To exercise this right, please contact us in writing within 14 days. Items must be returned in original, unused condition within an additional 14 days.

Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility. Refunds will be processed within 14 days of us receiving the returned item.

Australia & New Zealand Consumer Rights
This policy does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act.

If your item is faulty, damaged, or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund under your local consumer protection laws. Please contact us with your order number and photos, and we’ll ensure your concerns are resolved promptly and fairly.
